"I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it." Php. 3:14-16 Message

Hi! Man...I haven't checked this in over a week...looks like not many have, though.
Maybe being the "hands and feet" are not as much doing practical things for people...which i think part of it is...but more toward relationships? Like, maybe getting out of the little christian boxes we so easily put ourselves in and be with and do things with people OUTSIDE the church or just simply new people we meet on sundays. Thisis just something I'm thinking a lot about and working on. I'm just really frustrated with "churchiness" i guess....I can feel that in my and it feels sickening, to be honest. So...maybe it's about getting out and getting close to people-- as messy as that may be at times -- But it feels so right. IDK, though...I jsut thought I would throw something out there! What are YOUR thoughts?? PLEASE COMMENT!! : )
oh and I started "No Perfect People Allowed" today...just on the 2nd chapter -- what an amazing book, so far. whaaa
I would say it probably pertains to the continuation of being what Christ is. I believe it means a deliberate, balanced approach with us both telling how God cares for them, and actually doing stuff that helps people in their moment of need. This usually means befriending “undesirable” people, probably by doing things for them as an intentional way of connecting with them. I do believe the ultimate solution to the problems that hurting humanity all around us has are solved by reconciling them with God, our Father. I can't think of single time Jesus helped someone without being able to draw a connection to the Father or His kingdom. Well, maybe the Canaanite woman or the water/wine incident. However, practical ways to consider might be:
The quiet outcast who needs friends to hang with
The single mom who could use a free/cheap babysitter so she can work
Maybe a kid/adult who could use some outside school tutoring
The drug/alcohol abuser who needs to know that they don't have to be a failure, that there is hope(More in our age bracket than we care to admit)
I guess most people have some needs that they can't fulfill, and that is where we can be hands and feet.
...just checked the blog out myself. Not sure who actually posted the initial post but sounds like a great topic to consider. To me His hands and feet were dedicated to serving...serving whoever, whenever, however. As we know, He did not come to be served, but to serve, much to His disciples chagrin. The wrongly assumed that the closer they got to the Master the less they would have to stoop to serve, but they learned it is actually the opposite. The closer we get to the Master, the more we desire to serve, whoever, whenever, however...it really doesn't matter, because it is to be our nature to serve. As Erin McManus says, "we are most like Jesus when we are serving."
